To celebrate Historic Preservation Month 2017 Main Street Millen will publish a picture on Facebook each day of one of Millen's historic downtown buildings.  Please visit Main Street Millen's Facebook page and share your knowledge and/or memories about the buildings and businesses that have been in them.  Main Street Millen will compile the information into a history of Millen's historic downtown.
  







Cotton Market Park Produce Market

     The Produce Market is open for the season every Tuesdays and will continue through November 21,  2017. The public is invited to shop from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Cotton Market Park on Cotton Avenue for fresh locally grown produce. Onions, turnips, kale, potatoes, eggs and milk (unpasteurized and unhomogenized) are now available.
     Vendors from Jenkins and adjacent counties are welcome to participate.  Produce must be locally grown by the seller.  Vendors may not sell products purchased from other sources.  There is no charge for vendors.  Call 478 982 5595 for more information.

Magnolia Springs Summer Kick Off

Saturday, May 20, 2017
10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Kick Off activities include archery, bounce house, crafts, geocaching, hiking, black powder demonstrations, and much more.  Shop the vendors' treasures, enjoy the splash pad, and play some games.  Join the Friends of Magnolia Springs State Park and Jenkins County 4-H Club for the second annual summer kick off event.  Parking: $5:00.

Nature Hike With Naturalist: 
Saturday, May 13, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Learn about the variety of animals and natural, and man-made structures that make up Magnolia Springs State Park. $5.00 plus $5.00 parking.

Barks in the Park Doggy Hike:  Saturday, May 27, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Bring your favorite four-legged companion and join a park ranger for an easy one mile hike on the beautiful Lime Sink Trail.  $5.00 plus $5.00 parking.

Zombee Archery: 
Saturday, May 6, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Join a park ranger to help get rid of the 3D zombie targets hanging out on the archery range. Equipment provided. Ages 7 and up. 
$10.00 plus $5.00 parking.

Full Moon Night Hike: 
Wednesday, May 10, 8:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. Explore the full moonlit night while going on a park ranger led hike through the wooded trails of the park.  $5.00 plus $5.00 parking.

Boston Corbett's Camp Lawton Tour: Friday, May 26, 7:30 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. Enjoy touring the prison and fort of the largest Civil War prison, Camp Lawton, with the character of former prisoner Sgt. Thomas "Boston Corbett." Learn about Boston's interesting life as well as the history of the camp. Experience a black powder rifle demonstration and tour the museum where artifacts found on the property are displayed. 
 $5.00 plus $5.00 parking.

Fishing with Blake: Saturday, May 13, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Join resident angler and Park Naturalist Blake as he teaches various fishing techniques and tricks guaranteed to catch fish in the beautiful lake. Bring your own gear or register in advance and gear will be provided. A Georgia Fishing license is required for ages 16 and over. 
 $5.00 plus $5.00 parking.

Nighttime Paddle on Magnolia Springs Lake: 
Saturday, May 6, 2017, 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Enjoy this unique experience to get to paddle on the beautiful lake at Magnolia Springs State Park after hours.  Enjoy the sights and sounds of the night from a perspective not everyone gets to see. Please reserve canoe or kayak and pay in advance. $15.00 plus $5:00 parking.

Mother's Day Hike: Sunday, May 14, 2017, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Learn about the variety of animals, natural and man made structures that make up Magnolia Springs State Park. The hiking trails are easy, but good walking shoes are recommended. $5.00 plus $5.00 parking.

Movie Under the Stars: Saturday, May 20, 8:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m.  Bring blankets or chairs, get comfortable and enjoy the movie. $5.00 parking.

Memorial Day Hike: Monday, May 29, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. 
Celebrate Memorial Day with this Ranger led hike around the various trails and areas of the park. 
Learn about the variety of animals, natural and man made structures that make up Magnolia Springs State Park. 

Camp Lawton Memorial Day Tour: Monday, May 29, 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Join us in celebrating Memorial Day with this tour of Historic Camp Lawton. Explore the fort area, museum, and beautiful grounds at Magnolia Springs State Park with the Park Rangers. Learn the unique history of the world's largest Civil War prison. $5.00 plus $5.00 parking.

The regular season for the Depot Dudes is underway and the next performance is on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Perkins Depot at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.   Patrons need to bring lawn chairs.  Food will be available for purchase.

Jenkins County Memorial Library: 
The After School Reading Program continues on Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m.  Kids listen to stories, make crafts and have fun. On May 9th  the stories will be about Mother's Day; on May 16th there will be stories about jumping frogs.

How It's Done Workshops: Learn how to turn a bit of plastic canvas and some yarn into a custom bookmark in the workshop on Saturday, May 13th at 12:30 p.m. 

The adult painting class, Paint @ the Library" on Saturday, May 20th at 12:30 p.m. will be on painting a summery beach scene.

Zoning/Ordinance Information Session: sponsored by the GICH committee, First Baptist Church, May 30th, 6:00 p.m.
