Mariachi Imports Inc. Awarded "Best of the Best" for Second Year Running by American Society of Interior Designers

In a rare decision, the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) voted to award their Best of the Best Award for design innovation in the floor covering category to Mariachi Imports, Inc. of Philadelphia for the second year in a row.

 "It is very unusual for the same company to receive the award twice in a row like this" said Amy Kimmich, Owner and Designer for Mariachi, "but they told me that after consulting together they decided that my Mad Mats were still the most interesting and exciting product in their category.  My color theme development and use of the medium to create high style was cited as the primary reason.  Mad Mats are also color fast and are widely known for their durability and superior construction."  Mad Mats are intricately designed, beautifully colored indoor/outdoor rugs made entirely of recycled plastic materials.

Mariachi has been perfecting the line for eight years, growing to 75 different styles in five sizes. Amy Kimmich, a graduate of Philadelphia's College of Art, oversees all color development and placement, as well as pattern and scheme development in her Thai mills.  After expanding into Canadian market two years ago, Mariachi recently launched the line in Australia, where it met with terrific success at the Melbourne Gift Fair earlier this month.  Newly expanded permanent showrooms are opening at the Suites at Market Square in High Point and in The Gardens in Atlanta this coming January, where Kimmich will roll out an additional twelve styles introduced to help dealers sell Mad Mats successfully and keep customers satified.

Two primary keys to the success of the line are the emphasis that Amy Kimmich places on her relationships with suppliers and buyers, and her relentless attention to detail.  New features are constantly being added.
