Christiaan Smith (Participant 2008)
Christiaan is enjoying excellent reviews performing the role of Robert Kinkaid in the musical version of Bridges of Madison County in Boston (music by Jason Robert Brown) with Speakeasy Theater. After which, he will be performing a concert on Harvard campus from his series Songs We Know: when hits become art, following two successful performances in Wisconsin recently with talkback sessions and one planned for Carnegie Hall on November 18 with pianist Dr. Casey Robards. For these concerts, Christiaan is creating his own arrangements of repertoire that emphasizes the beauty of art song and operatic style through the use of popular music in order to develop broader audiences for the art form. His arranging and songwriting skills will be put forth in an album of original content recorded in Nashville this summer to be released soon. He continues to make himself available for workshops, concerts and private lessons, as well as writing original music.
