Migrant Legal Aid Attorneys Deliver Anti-inflammatory Bottled Water and Free Legal Advice to Flint
Flint, MI. Sunday, July 27, despite sporadic rain, Grand Rapids based MLA organized a truckload of bottled water for Flint area residents through Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Mary's Churches. Pallets of Halo Water were donated, trucked, and off-loaded by Grand Rapids companies and volunteers, in collaboration with Flint area legal services (LSEM and CCJ).
Migrant Legal Aid's Fair Food Project Prepares to Reveal Major Grocery Partner
Later this month, a major grocery retailer will announce its participation in the first-of-it's-kind Michigan Fair Food Project. MLA set a goal of 100 stores
participating in the
pledge by
December, 2016. The pledge
is intended to support the
ethical and humane treatment
of farmworkers
who harvest produce for grocers. MLA also assisted with the Spanish translation of the Fair Food Network 's
double up bucks program, which provides bridge card holders with free fruits and vegetables at a various retailers.
