Greetings:
Dexter - Sharpei/Pit mix, Male, 8 years old, Fully Vetted
I am looking for a home for a very special dog. Eight years ago, Dexter was found in a suitcase with a severe case of Demodex mange. He and I bonded instantly and spent a lot of time together before finding the perfect home. Sadly, his mother needs to re-home him due to personal reasons and feels that she is not able to give Dexter the time he needs to be happy. Dexter needs a new mom (he loves women but could have a dad too) who will appreciate and love his sweet soul. When Dexter bonds, he bonds deep!
I would love to have Dexter live with me, but he would never be happy being one of seven dogs (I already have 6). He would thrive on having a peaceful, quiet, low energy home with maybe a game of fetch in a fenced back yard. He doesn't want to go on long walks and he doesn't require much exercise. He's a home-body. Dexter lost a front leg when he climbed a fence and broke it in several places. He has recovered from the amputation and is as happy as ever. He lives with a small child but doesn't appreciate the tail pulling and leaves the room when annoyed.
Please help find Dexter the perfect family!! He wants a true companion to spend most of the day with and who will make him a very important part of their life.
Contact info@mostlymutts.org for more info on this WONDERFUL dog!
Thank you. Paige and the Mutts, especially Dexter!

 MOSTLY MUTTS SEEKING NEW SHELTER
Mostly Mutts is still seeking a suitable site to open a shelter to house our rescue dogs and a place where volunteers can help and the public can bring their donations. We are in immediate need to find a location and are hoping someone will step forward to help this dream come true. The ideal place would be in the Kennesaw/Acworth area, in very good condition and have a green space for dogs to be able to get outside during the day. Contact Tammy at tammy2212@comcast.net if you or someone you know would be interested in talking more about this. We are a 501 (c)3 and donations are tax deductible. Thank you!!!! The new shelter will help us rescue a greater amount of animals. If you would like to donate towards the new shelter, please click here. |

Peggy
Peggy and her husband started out fostering dogs for Mostly Mutts. Now they have a few new doggy children so can't foster any more. They wanted to stay involved so they started to volunteer at Petsmart on weekends. Peggy is now training to become an adoption counselor and is pefect for the job. We love working with people who are energetic and fun and Peggy fits right in to the pack! Even Dwayne thinks she's cool! Thank you Peggy for helping Mostly Mutts in so many ways.

Gabe
Border Collie/Pit Bull mix; male, 9 months old; 40 pounds
I LOVE being with people and other dogs. I am very food motivated so training me is a breeze. I need to continue my training to sit, stay, watch me, etc. Tennis balls will keep us both entertained as you throw and I fetch. It's so much fun! I kennel very well and am potty-trained. I paw at the door when I need to go out. I am super smart and only want to learn and please my family. With continued training, I will make an excellent pet for families with older children (I jump a little too much for small children)! Energy level: 6-8.
Please check out the Mostly Mutts facebook page to see a great video of me! |

Pranay & Pippin (formerly Mudslide)

Happy Birthday to Pranay and Mostly Mutts. No, it's not our birthday but Pranay dedicated his special day to Mostly Mutts. His family adopted Pippin from MM a few years ago and he wanted to help other dogs by giving to our organization. We greatly appreciate his love and support and it makes us feel special when kids actively donate. THANK YOU Pranay!

Callie

I'm a happy girl because now I have a new family. Don't we look comfy together? I'm cute and sweet and will take good care of my family. |
|
Cinco di Mayo Pups Cisco & Pico

We came to Mostly Mutts after our mommy passed away when we were very young and had to be bottle fed by volunteers. Now we are wild and crazy puppies ready to rule the world. Actually, no, we just want to be with our mom and dad and to love them with our little hearts and souls. |
|
Dollywood

This life beats the life on the streets! I was a stray for several weeks and fed by a Waffle House server. They all adored me and saved my life. Mostly Mutts found a very special home for me and we are all happy now. |
|
Double Dog Dare

No question I hit the jackpot with my new mommy. She just adores me and her comforting arms are what I wished for. My puppy mill days are over and my best days are ahead. |
|
Jake

My foster family said since I was a perfect child, I could live with them forever. I'm a little older than most rescue dogs (11 years) but that just makes me much more special. |
|
Karmama

My three babies and I just happened to be turned in to an animal control shelter at the same time MM was there pulling dogs. We were lucky we could walk out the same door we had just walked in within 5 minutes. They took care of my babies, treated me for heartworm and then found the perfect family for me to live my life with. Thank you to my foster family for loving me so much too. |
|
Kendra

My new family took me home for a week and then came back to complete the adoption. They think I'm the PERFECT dog for them and I have to agree. I'm nothing but happy and silly and now grateful to have a family that loves me.

Maizy

I was in pitiful shape when I came to Mostly Mutts. Covered with mange, they started treatment immediately. You would not even believe I am the same dog. I'm pretty sure I have everything I could ever ask for right now!

Cinco di Mayo pup Nacho

I'm not the first Mostly Mutts dog in my family but I'm the smallest! My family is awesome and they are going to really enjoy me. |
|
Pixie

I have a family who can keep up with my energy! We'll have many years of adventure together and it all starts today! |
|
Roc

My last family tried to take care of me but they didn't have the time or money so MM helped me find a new family. My new family adores me and just wait till they see me fetch a tennis ball. I'm awesome! |
|
Africa Kitten Senegal

Mostly Mutts is not all dogs!! Cats rule in my family and I'm glad I don't have to come to adoptions any more! Wheeee. |
|
Spencer

Another perfect fit. My family says that they could not have asked for a better dog. Yes, they LOVE Beagles but they especially love ME because I'm such a good boy! |
|
Africa Kitten Togo

I will be living the city life now and that suits me just fine! My mom and dad are happy to have a new baby to take care of and I'm thrilled too! |

We are so very blessed to have him in our lives. He is still very much a puppy at heart - but he keeps us all young and active.

Doc Holliday - formerly Brewster
I love my family so much - even my new little brother.
|
Heidi - formerly Brewster
Here is a recent picture of my Heidi girl who I adopted in September of 2009. She is the joy of my life. I love my "dog"hter so much.
|
Zoe Grace - formerly Priscilla
I was just recently adopted by my wonderful family and I love them so much! More importantly, I LOVE being the center of attention in this household. What more could a dog want?!
|
We adopted Spangle about 4 years ago. She now lives in Maryland with two other furry friends and is doing very well. She loves to lay on our deck soaking up the morning sun and chewing on her favorite antler. Thank you Mostly Mutts for allowing her a second chance and taking such great care of her! She is the sweetest dog!
|
Riley - formerly Princess Pup Jasmine
I used to be a small little pup only a few months ago. I've grown up so much and my new family has taught me so well to always be on my best behavior. I never want to let them down. I love them so much.

SECOND LIFE THRIFT STORE
We encourage you to visit Second Life Thrift Store, Inc., an upscale thrift store in Avondale Estates that was created with the mission of giving homeless pets a second chance at life. The store sells gently used clothing, home decorations and furniture (all donated, mostly by animal lovers). In turn, they support animal rescue charities and programs with much-needed cash donations.
Donations are tax-deductible.
Second Life gave Mostly Mutts a donation for Jenny, a pregnant dog rescued from Dekalb County Animal Control. Sadly, Jenny had terrible complications from a disease and with the pregnancy and passed away. The donation is greatly appreciated.

Patrice
Hi all! I came to Mostly Mutts covered in demodex mange from head to tail. I am so thankful for them rescuing me - because now I'm on the road to recovery. One of these days, I will be more gorgeous than I am now. I LOVE everybody I meet and have such a happy personality - I love to show how thankful I am. My personality is what makes me so deserving of your donations. I hope you can help Mostly Mutts defray the cost. They won't be able to help other dogs like me without your donations. Please click here to donate to Patrice's treatment.

Jewell
I was found as a stray with two ruptured eyes. They are very painful but are feeling a little better each day, thanks to the treatment I have been receiving. Animal control took me directly to the eye specialist who contact Mostly Mutts for a rescue commitment before they would perform surgery. Mostly Mutts said "go for it." I had the surgery to help heal my corneas and maybe I will gain some eyesight. But if not, at least I won't live in pain. My foster family puts multiple drops in my eyes six times a day. They are so awesome to care for me. I really enjoy cuddle time and I am feeling very good now.
Please click here to help Jewell see again.

Thank You to the
Foster Families
| |
We always need good foster homes!
If you are interested in fostering, please contact foster@mostlymutts.org.
In particular, let us know if you are available to foster a pregnant dog or nursing momma, bottle-feeding puppies, or a sick dog, a dog needing rehab from surgery, or a dog needing quarantine. We often have special needs and would love to have a list of foster families to contact in these situations.
There is no cost involved in fostering and we can lend you most supplies you may need.
Consider being a REGULAR foster:
Regular fostering is when you care for a dog in your home, and that dogs comes to weekly adoption events until it finds a forever home.
Consider being a TEMPORARY foster: Sometimes we need a foster home for short periods of time. For instance, when a dog's foster family goes away for a few days and the dog needs a temporary place to stay.
Consider being a LONGER TERM foster:
At times, we have a dog that needs a quiet home to recover from surgery or illness. These dogs are not yet ready to come to weekly adoptions.
Consider being a PUPPY foster:
We are always in need of puppy foster families. This is a great way to get your 'puppy fix'! We have puppies of all ages needing foster homes.
When you foster a dog, you help TWO dogs at one time. You help the one in your home and you allow us to pull another dog from animal control.
Many thanks to our foster Moms, Dads and Families who are currently caring for dogs, pups or kittens in their homes. We appreciate our foster families more than we can ever express!
