Becoming a Canadian Sport For Life Community Mini-Summit This Mini-Summit designed for municipal recreation, community leaders, and community sport stakeholders. Participates will be exposed to the Canadian Sport 4 Life (CS4L) framework, physical literacy concepts, and will learn how to become a CS4L Champion by utilizing community development principles. This Mini-Summit will assist in identifying opportunities for collaboration that exist between local sport development stakeholders within communities. Best practices and community success stories will be discussed, and their relation to the CS4L model will be explored. Dates and Locations:
Gander: Wednesday, October 16 at Hotel Gander St. John's: Friday, October 18 at Swilers Rugby Deer Lake: Saturday, October 19 at Lake Motel All sessions will be 9am - 4:30pm. Each session is FREE of charge and lunch will be provided!

The Hall of Fame honors individuals in three categories:
Excellence as athletes during their competitive days
Excellence, both as athletes and builders of sport
Builders of local sport clubs and associations.
The Team Honor Roll recognizes outstanding Mount Pearl sport teams.

Athlete of the Year Awards
The Athlete of the Year Awards were created to recognize and honour outstanding achievements in sport in our City.
Senior level Female, Male and Team of the Year, as well as Coach and the Peter Halliday Executive of the Year are awarded each year in January.
Youth (minor) Female, Male and team of the year, as well as Official and the Dave Holloway Adult Volunteer Working with Youth Awards are presented each year in May as part of the Mount Pearl Focus on Youth.

Congratulations...
Congratulations to Winston Legge, the winner of the Caribbean Cruise for two. Winston was the grand prize winner in the Mount Pearl Sport Alliance Summer Draw Ticket Draw. Winston and Tanya Legge wil also be taking their daughters Jessica and Lyla on the cruise.The ticket was purchased through MP Soccer.

Remembering
Bob Hillier
Bob Hillier will be long remembered for his tireless work with volunteer organizations, schools, local businesses and all levels of government, buillding partnerships and raising money for the common good of sport and youth development. Bob was a pioneer in sport development in our community, province and country. Among other recognitions he is an inductee in the Mount Pearl and Provincial Sports Hall of Fames and the Mount Pearl Soccer Hall of Fame. Among his contributions on the local scene, he founded the Mount Pearl Sport Alliance in 1994. He managed the Alliance until 2007 and continued as a dedicated volunteer and mentor.
Our thoughts and prayers for Janet, Deborah, Rodney and family.
Bob will be missed by many friends and colleagues.
Rest in peace ..Bob
