Meet The Candidates

March 23, 2012

The Mystic Shores Social Committee will be sponsoring a Meet the Candidates mixer on Friday, March 23, 2012, from 6-8 pm at the Lake Park Pavilion. This will be an opportunity for Board candidates to introduce themselves and explain their reasons for running for the Board and their vision for Mystic Shores.

At the quarterly Board meeting on March 2, a property owner requested that we have Q&A at the mixer to allow for a better understanding of the candidates and their visions for managing the Association. Additionally, one candidate (through her email newsletter) recently alluded to the need for a set of questions for candidates to answer. A show of hands at the meeting indicated overwhelming support for a candidate Q&A.  As a result, property owners were invited to send questions to the Board for the candidates and we have received a few questions.

Each participating Board candidate will be asked to give a three minute introduction for himself or herself, including their answer to 1 or 2 previously provided questions.

After the introductions, two questions will be allowed from the audience for each candidate. The format and time limits will be explained in detail at the event.

The mixer is BYOB and bring an appetizer to share if you wish. The Meet the Candidates Mixer will begin promptly

at 6:00 pm at the Lake Park Pavilion.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to sign up for the Annual BBQ.

A Second Lake Park

Long term residents of Mystic Shores may recall questions at previous Annual meetings regarding our developer's obligations with respect to a promised lake park at the end of Cranes Mill Road. Research into this proposed park reached an apparent dead end in 2010.

In June of 2011, the Board of Directors received a communication from the engineering firm responsible for designing the park indicating that after 3 1/2 years, the permitting process was complete with the exception of a final consent approval from the COE (Corps of Engineers).

In August of 2011, the Board formally requested approval from the COE for consent to construct. In addition, a representative of Bluegreen Communities of Texas advised that pending final COE approval, Bluegreen was "committed to completing this final obligation" with respect to Lake Park #2.

In November of 2011, following 3 more levels of approvals, the Board received from the COE a fully executed consent form  granting permission to construct  and maintain the park on approximately 23 acres with16 picnic sites and 25 parking spaces.          Click Here To See Plans
 Lake Park #2
It is important to note that this is in no way connected with or tied to the issue of the Bluegreen sales office, and is considered to be an outstanding obligation of the developer to Mystic Shores property owners.

As recently as 2 weeks ago, the Association received assurances from the Bluegreen Vice President of Development that "Bluegreen Corporation remains committed to its obligation with respect to completion of Lake Park #2."

Should the park be completed as planned, it will provide private picnic areas and parking spaces for Mystic Shores property owners adjacent to the Cranes Mill boat ramp.
