Dr. Zev Leifer Presents ePoster at International Conference
Zev Leifer, PhD,
Professor of Pre-Clinical Sciences at NYCPM, presented an ePoster -- Zev Leifer's Lab - Access to an International Collection of Digital Pathology Images: Archiving and Retrieval in a Database Format -- at the Third International Conference on Big Data Analysis and Data Mining, in London, England, September 26-27 -- without leaving New York. The ePoster format allowed Dr. Leifer to keep teaching at NYCPM while his work was presented at the conference.
He adapted a website,
http://Quartzy.com, for use in digital pathology archiving and retrieval. Dr. Leifer explains: "It is a database system, wherein I have links, annotated, to numerous slides available in a digital/virtual format. It can be used to construct an undergraduate course, or for Tumor Board reviews or for various testing formats. The data mining aspect relates to the ability to access slides located at decentralized, internationally located slide collections, rather than having massive in-house storage needs."
