What's happening

The Art Room has been full of members working on various Valentine's activities. Members are creating pieces of jewelry, pencil holders, silk screen prints, and cards for their loved ones.

The first Monday of each month, members are given an opportunity to participate in button making. This is a popular activity among our members! Every Tuesday, Book BINGO is played in the Art Room and on Thursdays, members are learning hands on about silkscreen printing.

The Computer Lab has been filled with members every day. The cold weather outside allows more members to participate in the computer lab programs, games, and movies. Educational games and online free time have been the main attractions in the Computer Lab

Members are continuing to participate in Power Hour Homework Club every day in the Learning Center! The next Power Hour Party will be on February 16th.

On Monday afternoons, members can be found playing Wheel of Fortune, white board Pictionary, and Trivial Pursuit.

The LEGO Robotics program has continued and we've been seeing a lot more members become proficient in coding the robots and completing challenges. On Tuesday afternoons, 5th and 6th graders are given the opportunity to participate in Robotics Challenge. Our 2nd and 3rd grade members are enjoying Intro to LEGO Robots on Wednesday afternoons. Robot Programming free time is offered to 2nd-6th grade members on Thursday afternoons in the Learning Center.

The 1st graders have been really involved with reading buddies!  Jolette Barragan and Cailyn Lopez will both be receiving an award for perfect attendance January. Great job girls! Our 1st graders are paired with a 5th or 6th grade buddy and read a book of their choice to them. The 5th and 6th graders have been really enjoying this as well and continue to encourage their younger "buddies" to read! Christine, our fabulous Assistant Program Director, organizes a variety of activities for our young members. This month they have been busy working on projects for Black History Month as well as Valentine's day! Christine is constantly encouraging our 1st graders to try new activities throughout the Club.

This month in the Teen Room, members are battling it out to be named Ping Pong champion. There are daily tournaments with prizes and members are enjoying showing off their skills.
