Youth of the Month

Youth of the Month - Aiden McCormack
Aiden McCormack, an 8 th grade student at Cyrus Peirce Middle School is a pleasure to have at the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club and in the teen room.  At the Club he is always involved in the daily and teen night activities, and never runs out of energy or enthusiasm.  Aiden is the first teenager to sign up for volunteer opportunities and also interacts wonderfully with the younger members of the NBGC.

New to the Club - a Tower Garden!
We are very excited to announce that we have started our very own garden - a Tower Garden! Thanks to the wonderful people at Juice Plus, who are working to provide all Boys & Girls Clubs across America with this amazing opportunity, we will be harvesting fresh vegetables in just a few weeks!
The Tower Garden, a cylinder made of UV-stabilized, food grade, plastic, stands about 4 feet tall and accommodates up to 20 plants. The Tower Garden uses aeroponic technology, the process of growing plants in an air or mist environment, without the use of soil. This will allow the plants to grow both outdoors and indoors, with the help of growing lights - allowing our Club member's to enjoy their garden all year round!
Club members will assist staff members in the care of the plants as they grow and will then harvest the various fruits and vegetables. All part of our Healthy Habits program, they will then learn about the importance of healthy eating and preparation of healthy meals.
Thank you to Juice Plus and our Juice Plus representative, Kirke!

As the school year comes to a close, the Athletic Program is winding down with Lacrosse happening at the Club and our Golf program. Thank you to Miacomet Golf Club and their staff for giving our Club members such a great opportunity to learn the game of golf! This program would also not be possible without the support of the PGA Sports Academy and their partnership with Boys & Girls Club's of America.
A huge thank you to all of our volunteers who have helped throughout the year, coaching, refereeing and mentoring our young athletes! Don't forget to be on the lookout throughout the summer for emails and flyers for the 2017 football season!
Thank you again to everyone who supports our Nantucket Boys & Girls Club Athletics and our hundreds of young athletes!
