WELCOME BACK!
We are so excited to have the Club bustling with members again this fall! We are proud to say, that with over 300 members attending the Club daily, we are having a record breaking September! Everyone is LOVING our new space.
There are so many things happening at the Club! The Art Room is always full of members, enjoying various art projects. The Learning Center has been a great place to help kids transitioning back into their school routines and completing their homework assignments. The gym has already seen plenty of dodgeball games, cheerleading practices, indoor soccer, along with so many other activities! Members have been learning the basic fundamentals of Adobe Photoshop in the Computer Center- and creating some pretty remarkable pictures!
Other great activities that have started up again this year, are guitar lessons with Aiden, from the Nantucket Community Music Center, every Wednesday and book bingo every Tuesday with Leslie, the Children's Librarian from the Nantucket Atheneum.
If you haven't had a chance yet- be sure to pop in and see all that the NEW CLUB has to offer!

NBGC partners with Nantucket Fire Department to host Community Halloween Party
On Friday, October 30th the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club and the Nantucket Fire Department will be putting on our first annual Community Haunted House! This will replace the fire department's normal haunted house, which took place at the Fire Station in years past. From 5:00pm-8:00pm the Club will be open to the public for a Haunted House, games, and other activities throughout the Club. In order to do our best to accommodate everyone's tolerance for spoooookiness, from 5:00pm-6:00pm we will cater to younger children and those of us who don't want quite the same level of heebie-jeebies as others! But don't fret- for those of you who like a good scare, from 6:00pm-8:00pm we will be AMPING UP the fear factor!
Admission is FREE for everyone (you do NOT have to be a Club member to attend)!
Parents, please note- the Club will be closed for the evening. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please, no drop offs!

Each month our staff recognizes a member (11 year or younger and a youth (12 years and up) who exemplifies a "Club kid"- someone who is kind, abides by Club rules, helps other Club members and staff members, participates in Club activities and who is well rounded. Stay tuned to find out who was chosen for the month of September, in next month's newsletter!

Athletics

It's that time of year and fall sports are in full swing- football, cheerleading, field hockey and golf.
So far we have had some great football games. Both season openers for Division I and II have been extremely close. In Division I action we saw Boston College come out triumphantly over Miami 32-30. In the Division II season opener, it was Michigan scoring in the final minutes to surpass Ohio State 6-0.
The cheerleading squads are bigger than ever! Both divisions have done an excellent job keeping the spirit alive during games.
Flag football for 1st-2nd graders and girls 5th-8th grade begins this week.
There is still space available in both field hockey (all ages) and golf (3rd - 7th grade). Please contact Joe or Jamie S. to sign up.
Please come out and support our young athletes!
