Teen Program Flourishing
The 2016-2017 school year has been a busy one for all of the Club, but especially in the Nest! Over 70 teens, ages 13 through 18, have been attending our Teen Nights, which take place on Friday and Saturday evenings. Thanks to many of our local restaurants, the Club is able to offer food, along with various activities including sports tournaments, video games, and board game tournaments, along with other teen oriented activities.
One program we are especially excited about is the "Reading Buddies" program. Every day from 3:30-4:00pm, the Nest is a quiet place where teens are paired up with 1st grade "buddies". Teen members sit with a 1st grade Club member and either listen to them ready a story, or can choose to read a story to the younger member. It has been a great experience for both our younger members and teens!
The NBGC would like to extend a special thank you to the Community Foundation for Nantucket for their recent grant, in support of our Teen Program. We would also like the thank the following restaurants who have generously donated food this year: The Rose & Crown, bACK Yard BBQ, Shangri-La, Bartlett's Farm and Easy Street Cantina.

Athletics

It's that time of year again and basketball is in full swing! We are excited to begin our second season as part of the  Cape Cod Youth Basketball League. We will be fielding two teams, a 6th grade boys team and a 6th grade girls team. They will be traveling off island, playing some of the best teams the Cape has to offer. We will also be hosting home games this year - our first one taking place on December 11th. Stay connected with schedule updates and scores at capehoops.com.

I would also like to thank all of our volunteer coaches because without you none of this would be possible!
We are looking forward to a GREAT basketball season! See you all in the gym!
Please check out the calendar on our website for schedule information and changes.
