NYU College of Dentistry Launches Center Dedicated to a More Equitable Future of Care
Research has long shown that oral health care is integral to overall health and well-being, yet millions of people who need dental care continue to go without treatment. To tackle this issue, New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry launched the Center for Oral Health Policy and Management in January 2021. The center aims to prepare dental students to become future leaders who can guide their industry in eliminating barriers to care, such as financial limitations, lack of insurance, and lack of oral health care literacy. The center will also collect data and evidence that will be used to provide policy recommendations on improving essential dental care access. Read more.

Columbia University College of Dental Medicine Community Practice Adds Dental Care Opportunities for Patients, Providers
Affordable dental care can be hard to come by, especially in Upper Manhattan where demand is high and appointments are limited. To help address the dentistry needs of local residents, a new initiative called the community practice at the Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine (CDM) is expanding available care with extended hours and a modified practice model. Eastman Institute For Oral Health, University of Rochester’s First Graduate in Combined Program
For Dr. Kristen Frantz (BS ’12, Perio ’19, Prostho ’21, MS ‘21), it will be working with her friends every day that she will miss most after graduation. The Scranton, PA native is wrapping up five and a half years at Eastman, earning a master's degree and her Periodontics and Prosthodontics Certificates, the first one to graduate from the new combined program. Columbia University College of Dental Medicine Columbia Confers Dental Degrees on 94 Graduates
On May 20, the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine (CDM) celebrated the graduation of 94 new dentists from the school’s DDS program. Graduates assembled for a ceremony led by Dana Wolf, DMD, senior associate dean for predoctoral academic and student affairs, and the event was broadcast live so that family, friends, and the broader community could join virtually. University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine: New Wiki on Salivary Proteins May Transform Diagnostic Testing, Personalized Medicine
To improve development of new saliva-based diagnostic tests and personalized medicine, the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) has supported development of the Human Salivary Proteome Wiki, the first public platform that catalogs and curates data on each of the thousands of proteins within our saliva. University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine Forensic Dentist Pens Sequel to Award-Winning Crime Novel

NYU College of Dentistry Co-hosts Global Virtual Side Event for 74th WHO World Health Assembly
NYU College of Dentistry’s World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center, together with Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health, hosted a virtual event on Wednesday, May 26 on integrating oral health and global health. The meeting took place on the occasion of the 74th World Health Assembly of the WHO, which convened virtually from May 24 through June 1 and brought together ministers of health from all 194 WHO member states.
