NYU College of Dentistry Joins Oral Health Advocates at UN

The College's World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center for Quality-improvement, Evidence-based Dentistry, was one of four oral health organizations at the UN's July 5, 2018, Interactive Civil Society Hearing on NCDs (Noncommunicable diseases). The meeting was in preparation for the UN High-level Meeting on NCDs to be held in September 2018.   Read more.

Columbia University College of Dental Medicine: Local Leaders Visit College of Dental Medicine

Local policymakers, community leaders, and their staff poured into a dental school classroom as part of Columbia University's annual Project Medical Education, a national initiative of the Association of American Medical Colleges. The day-long July 23 event, organized by the medical center's Office of Government and Community Affairs annually, introduced local leaders to the medical center's work training healthcare leaders and serving the local community.   Read more.

Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester: A Dream Come True For This Mom

David Goodnough's mom Pat cried the first time she came to Eastman Dental at the Complex Care Center. "We walked in and the people at the desk were very nice," she said, quite different from other dental offices she had taken her son. "The people at Eastman are so happy and warm."  Read more.

Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine Leads Annual Outreach Mission to Pine Ridge, South Dakota

This summer, Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine (SDM) led its 18th outreach mission to South Dakota to provide much needed oral health care services to the Pine Ridge Community. Three faculty members, a dental assistant, and six students from SDM saw over 100 patients.    Read more.

NYU College of Dentistry: Three-Dimensional-Printed Implants Shown to Help Grow 'Real Bone'

Surgeons and scientists at NYU School of Medicine and NYU College of Dentistry say their implanted scaffolds were naturally absorbed by the test animals' bodies as new bone gradually replaced the devices. The research team describes its progress in a series of reports, the latest of which appeared online in the Journal of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine.   Read more.

Touro College of Dental Medicine at New York Medical College: Possible Link Between Obesity and Periodontitis in a First-of-Its-Kind Study Found

A new NIH-funded study, led by Salomon Amar, D.D.S., Ph.D., Professor of Pharmacology and Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at NYMC, and Professor of Dentistry at Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM), found a link between obesity and periodontitis, a serious and common gum infection caused by poor oral hygiene.   Read more.

Dr. Nicola Partridge, professor in the Department of Basic Science and Craniofacial Biology, has been selected to receive the prestigious Louis V. Avioli Founders Award presented by the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR), of which she is a member.   Read more.

Touro College of Dental Medicine at New York Medical College Reaches Another Milestone With Its Third Class of Future Dentists

Touro College of Dental Medicine officially welcomed its third class of future dentists, moving one step closer to a full roster of students. The class of 2022 began their dental school careers in early July with three days of orientation, tours, introduction and a class picture that will be hung among, so far, two other photos to commemorate the school's early history.   Read more.
