Ballot Drop Box Installed at City Hall
King County Elections installed a ballot drop box in front of Newcastle City Hall, giving local voters a convenient method of returning their ballots during elections. A stamp is not required when citizens deposit their ballots in a drop box.
Newcastle City Council Agenda | July 18, 2017

During the regular meeting, staff members will present information about the city's Pavement Management System, the City Council will consider a resolution approving a construction contract for Phase 1 of Southeast May Creek Park Drive bicycle and pedestrian improvements, and more.

The City Council will hold a study session to discuss public realm improvements associated with the proposed  Downtown Strategic Plan before the regular meeting begins on July 18. The study session, which starts at 6 p.m. at City Hall, is open to the public. 
Council Extends Downtown Development Moratorium

Development in Newcastle's downtown will be put on hold for an additional three months while city officials complete work on updating plans and regulations for the area.

Concerts in the Park Series Begins July 19

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Alan White and his band White kick off the city's summer concert series on Wednesday. We hope to see you all at Lake Boren Park!

National Night Out is Aug. 1

Does your neighborhood have plans for  National Night Out Against Crime? We want to hear about them! Register your event ahead of time to ensure visits from our Newcastle Police Department.

National Night Out is an annual community-building event that aims to heighten crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals about neighborhoods organized against criminal activity.

Seahawks Executive Speaks at CAC Meeting

A special thank you to Newcastle resident and  Seattle Seahawks Chief Operating Officer Chuck Arnold for stopping by to chat about the team at the city's Community Activities Commission meeting this month!

Staff Gets Spill Response Training

The Department of Ecology led Newcastle staff members through spill response training at Lake Boren Park on July 11. The training will ensure staff members are well prepared for a hazardous spill.
  
Volunteers Needed for Newcastle Fit Family Fun Run

The whole family is invited to the Newcastle Fit Family Fun Run at Lake Boren Park Aug. 5. The approximately 1.5-mile run/walk begins and ends at Lake Boren Park with activity and information stations along the way.

Volunteers are needed to help monitor the course, register participants, make buttons and more. Contact Wendy Kirchner at  wendyk@newcastlewa.gov to get involved.
  
Newcastle Fourth of July

The city estimates about 5,000 people filled Lake Boren Park to watch the Fourth of July fireworks show this year.
