Leaf Peeping: Brought to You By Conservation
Leaf peeping is a New England institution, attracting visitors from around the world and powering rural economies in the fall season. It's one of many concrete examples of how healthy, conserved forests that protect water quality offer benefits beyond clean water.
Land conservation is the surest way to protect water quality. Forests filter stormwater and reduce erosion, keeping waterways clean. But it offers plenty of other benefits too, including supporting local economies.

Studies show conserved land boosts local employment rates, can raise home values, supports natural resource industries like sugaring and timber harvesting, and promotes tourism. With state officials projecting 3.2 million visitors to spend $1.4 billion this fall, leaf peeping in New Hampshire is big business.

By supporting local conservation, you protect not just our natural resources, but the prosperity they make possible.

Leave the Leaves
Once the brilliant fall leaves have faded and fallen, they provide important habitat for pollinators and other species during the winter months. Learn how "leaving the leaves" during your fall cleanup protects our ecosystem:
