TD Bank donates $100,000 to NAEF through tax credit program
The Norristown Area Education Foundation (NAEF), the Norristown Area School District (NASD) and TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank, today announced a two year commitment by the bank to participate in the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program to help fund technology at all NASD schools.
TD Bank Market President Thomas Shoemaker and Regional Vice President Geoffrey Brandon presented NAEF with a $100,000 check, representing TD Bank's first year of the commitment, as Norristown Area High School students led faculty, staff and bank representatives on a tour of three classrooms at the school, including an Art classroom with digital design capabilities, an Honors Biology classroom, and an Honors Earth and Space (Science) classroom.
"This kind and generous gift will have an impact on the education of thousands of students in the Norristown area," said Jessica Schneider, Executive Director of the Norristown Area Education Foundation. "We are so thankful to TD Bank and we look forward to working together with them to have a positive impact on the students we serve."
Some of the district-wide technology initiatives that these funds will be used to support include astronomy, digital design and robotics. Additionally, the Board of Directors of NAEF hopes to expand its EITC approved programs in the near future. The funds will also enable NAEF to complete a Mac computer lab at Norristown Area High School for pre-engineering and graphic arts students.
"The Norristown Area Education Foundation does an amazing job helping to prepare NASD students with the tools needed to succeed," said Shoemaker. "We are proud to support NAEF's efforts and look forward to seeing cutting edge technology in every classroom in the district."
