With Thanksgiving behind us, I want to encourage you to continue your 30 Days of Gratitude practice. In finishing out those 30 days, take note of the difference that gratitude is making in your lives. As we now enter the season of Advent, we do so with anticipation. Our church is intentionally providing opportunities for us and our community to walk the Advent journey and embrace Christ's birth again in our hearts. There is so much to look forward to this month and so many ways that we can experience the fullness of this season intentionally. Here are just a number of those:

If you would like to know more about any of these events or how you can volunteer to serve at one or several of them, there is a place for you.

Pastor Rob

Sunday Service, November 30, 8:30am & 10:30am

This Sunday our congregation joins the throngs of Jesus followers on a journey called Advent. We often think of Advent as a season to prepare for Christmas but it is much more than that. The ancient Christian calendar established Advent as a season to prepare for Christ's second coming. The title of our Advent sermon series is "Advent with Isaiah". We will use texts from the Prophet Isaiah to walk us through the Advent season. Our first sermon will focus us on Isaiah's promise that God will invite us to follow God's chosen one on a transformative journey. Isaiah 2:1-5 will be our guiding text. I invite you to join me on Sunday as we join in lively worship, learning from holy scripture, and intimate fellowship.

What to Expect this Sunday

Advent begins this Sunday! Our Sunday School students have lovingly prepared Advent wreaths for you, and we’ll also provide an Advent devotional and a small journal to help you reflect on sermons and devotionals throughout this special time. These will be available after both the 8:30am and 10:30am service. Don’t miss this opportunity to prepare your heart for the coming of Christ!

John the Apostle uses the metaphor of light and darkness to full effect in his gospel: "Light coming into Darkness", "Light that can't be understood by Darkness", "Light that can't be conquered by darkness", "I am the Light of the World". But this is more than a metaphor. Like a road sign on a mountain pass with an image of 'falling rocks' on it, metaphors point us to a very real danger that lay ahead. Our Advent devotional embraces the same scriptural metaphor of Light and Darkness as we journey through the Advent season 2025. The stories and prayers contained in this devotional use John's metaphor but they take form and shape in real life stories. I hope these stories will resonate with your own stories, your own struggles, your own sleepless nights and yearning hearts. Welcome to the Advent journey and may the Light of the World embrace you and lead you.

Blessings,

Pastor Rob

Prayer Partners will be available at the front right-hand corner of the sanctuary after service. This Sunday's Prayer Partners will be Barbara Wilson and Tom Curran after the 8:30am service and Bob and Joyce Schlote after the 10:30am service. They are here to offer you a listening ear and spiritual guidance. Don't hesitate to approach them for support and encouragement.

Come be part of making this Christmas experience unforgettable!

The Longest Night Service is a gentle, contemplative worship experience for anyone who carries grief, stress, or weariness during a season that can feel anything but bright. Through scripture, prayer, candlelight, and music, we create sacred space to acknowledge our sorrow and to rest in God’s compassionate presence. Whether you are grieving a loss, navigating uncertainty, or simply needing a moment of stillness, you are welcome. Come as you are, and find light in the darkness.

If you or someone you know would find this service meaningful, please mark your calendars. If it is someone you know who is struggling at this time of year, please consider not only inviting them but offering to come with them in support.

The Longest Night of the Year service will begin at 6:30pm and will take place at North Point Church.

The Children’s Christmas Pageant will take place on Sunday, December 21st during the 10:30 AM service. Rehearsal will be held the week before, on Sunday, December 14th right after the 10:30 AM service. For more details or to get involved, please contact Miss Angel at angel@np-church.org.
