" Develop Christ-centered students who Aspire to excellence and Impact their communities for Him."
FEBRUARY 2019
Introducing NVCA's Monthly Newsletter
Welcome to the first issue of NVCA's monthly newsletter. Each month you will receive exciting and important updates about our goals and achievements. Included in the monthly newsletter will be highlights about academics covering K-12 grades, Athletic Department news, upcoming events, financial reports, and appreciation for our donors.
"Year-End Appeal" Appreciation
Thank You, Supporters
Students donning Santa hats and handing out donuts stood curbside in December as parents, filled with God’s generosity of the season, dropped off their contributions and pledge forms to support NVCA. Sixty households' donations earned 100 percent of the $50,000 dollar-for-dollar match.

Thanks to each and every one of you, the “Year-End Appeal” secured $110,841 to support our mission, provide academic excellence, and support the BEST (Believe, Excel, Strengthen, Tailor) program.

We'd like to give a special thank-you to Crown of Life Lutheran Church members in Sun City West for supporting BEST with personal donations and a $10,000 grant. Your generosity has made a great impact on our students.

Thank you for investing in Christian education.

Join Us for Summer Camp 2019
At NVCA we recognize each child as one of God's unique creations. At Summer Camp 2019, your child's summer will be full of excitement and learning.

Pre-School children will learn about God's creation through focused Bible verse themes. K-5 kids will enjoy indoor/outdoor adventures with a variety of themes.

A variety of Specialty and Sports camps will also be available. We are excited to have children throughout the community join us at Summer Camp 2019. Academics
Program Spotlight
NVCA desires to reach out to all students within our community. We want to reach those children with special life challenges. In addition, we want to continue to raise our academic standards. As a result, we are proud to offer the following two academic programs.

BEST
The BEST program provides custom and targeted education for special needs and gifted children.

Measurement of Academic Progress
(MAP) Testing
A key goal as a part of our mission is to develop Christ-centered students who "aspire" to excellence. To target this success academically, we are pleased to announce that we will be participating in Measurement of Academic Progress (MAP) testing. The MAP program will enable us to improve our overall academic success from Kindergarten through High School by establishing a baseline and providing key steps to measure progress.
Pre-School
Preschoolers at NVCA are busy!
This month we are learning about dental hygiene and are celebrating God's love and our love for one another. We work hard every day to share, be kind, help others, and learn our letters and numbers. We praise God for giving us teachers and helpers who love us and take care of us each and every day!
Elementary
The elementary grades have embraced 2019 with enthusiasm! We inducted select students as charter members of NVCA's National Elementary Honor Society and embarked on a special STEM project of composting and conservation. NVCA stood out at the Regional Lutheran Spelling Bee by winning First Place for both the 1st and 3rd grade contests and Second Place in both the 2nd and 5th grade contests!

The fourth grade drum line, started by the students and developed by our music teacher, led the students to the all-school pep rally. Younger students made puppets in theater class for use during the spring musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat." Fifth grade students are preparing for Biz Town, a simulated city that teaches life skills such as economic concepts, workplace skills, and personal and business finances.
Middle School & High School
February 1 Serve Day
On February 1, our 6th–10th grade students packed over 35,000 pounds of food at St. Mary's Food Bank. Our 11th and 12th grade students delivered care packages and blankets to our senior assisted living communities as well as some homeless at Cortez Park.

We are proud of our students and their efforts and hearts to serve others.
Developing and Expanding NVCA Online
NVCA is currently developing our online offerings in partnership with Grand Canyon University. This web-based educational expansion will provide classes for our homeschool communities and will offer a biblical worldview for all classes.

We are excited for this opportunity and partnership with Grand Canyon University.

Athletic Department
High School Boys Basketball
On Friday, February 8, our High School Boys Varsity Basketball Team had the opportunity to play in Salome, AZ, at the State Play-in Tournament. They played a tough game but lost only by three points. We are very proud of them for their great sportsmanship and look to the future for many more wins and achievements.

Spring Sports Start
Our Middle School Spring Sports have started for Boys and Girls Basketball. Currently, more than 20 boys and 12 girls are playing. The first game will be held on Tuesday, March 5.

Our High School Spring Sports recently started Track and Golf on February 19.
Stunt Teams
We're jumping with excitement for our NVCA Stunt Teams. The Middle School and Varsity Stunt Teams started off their competition season at Chaparral High School at the USA Arizona Open Championship on Saturday, February 2. Both teams had an amazing performance and took home two First Place trophies. The following Saturday, February 9, they competed at JamFest at the Phoenix Convention Center and also brought home two First Place trophies. Congratulations NVCA Stunt Teams!
