This Week in Washington
The Senate will begin the week focusing on a handful of President Trump's judicial nominations. The House is scheduled to begin consideration of
H.R. 2
, the farm bill, later in the week. The farm bill authorizes the nation's federal agriculture policy over the next five years. The bill covers a large breadth of key programs including most conservation, commodity, trade, rural development, agricultural research, and nutrition programs and has run into some opposition from democrats and some moderate republicans over large cuts and added work requirements to the nutrition title of the bill. Additionally, the head of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, R.D. James, is set to testify Thursday before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on a proposed water infrastructure bill. The following hearings and markups are scheduled for this upcoming week.
