NEMWI's Great Lakes Hill Happenings: September 2014

Congress returned for a quick two weeks of action in September. Here are your September 2014 Great Lakes Hill Happenings:
  • "Do Not Drink" water advisory in Toledo inspired multiple pieces of recently-introduced legislation and Congressional letters to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA);
  • NEMWI coordinated a pre-release Great Lakes Task Force (GLTF) briefing on the FY2015-19 Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Action Plan;
  • NEMWI planning second webinar for GLTF on algal bloom impacts in the Great Lakes and new ways to combat them; and
  • Great Lakes Senators and the Chicago Area Waterway System Advisory Committee wrote letters regarding next steps to keep Asian carp out of the Great Lakes.
