Daryl Weinroth joined the Center's Board of Directors in May 2010. An Attorney-at-law, he opened the Law Offices of Daryl J. Weinroth originally in Terra Linda shortly after receiving his J.D. from UC at San Francisco Hasting College of the Law in 1980. Daryl relocated his practice to Novato in 1985, where he has remained ever since. Daryl has been an active contributing member to the Novato community since the establishment of his law practice here. For 24 years he has been a member of the Rotary Club of Ignacio, serving as its President from 1995-96. Featured Volunteer
Katie Lucey, Novato Youth Volleyball Association Founder
When she's not focusing on her 250+ member strong Youth Volleyball Association, Katie Lucey can be found helping out in multiple places in the community. This year, we have had the good fortune of being chosen by Lucey as a recipient of her valuable time and talent. Staffing our table at various events, Katie is an avid advocate of the Center, boasting our services to everyone! Most recently, she volunteered to oversee San Marin High School teen volunteers as they served the food at our 35th Anniversary Luncheon Celebration on March 24th. With over 180 guests in attendance, that was no small feat as she ensured the teens were successful in providing quality service to all who attended. "Katie just knows how to make things happen", notes Cheryl Paddack, Novato Youth Center's Executive Director. "She understands how to bring people together for a greater cause and has been an incredible gift to the Center."
A Novato resident of 17 years, Katie and her husband John are in the midst of raising two daughters, Michelle (age 13) and Molly Kate (age 11). "I find much happiness in lending helping hands and listening ears to our young community members and feel incredibly fortunate to be able to positively impact the life's journey of many wonderful, young people. So much joy is realized in their smiles, their laughter and their sense of personal accomplishment." When not on the volleyball court, Lucey enjoys spending time with her family and friends. |

Novato Youth Center Celebrates it's
35th Year of Service to the Community!

On March 24th, the Novato Youth Center opened its doors to 180 guests to celebrate its milestone 35th anniversary. Mistress of Ceremonies Cheryl Jennings, co-anchor of ABC7 News shared historical milestones over the Center's 35 years of service. Other event highlights included keynote speaker Mary Jane Burke, Marin County Office of Education Superintendent, describe how the Center's five core programs work together to care for the whole child and their family. Guests were also treated to our Preschoolers' welcome song and the delicious CaterMarin luncheon served by San Marin High School teens and volunteer Katie Lucey. Past board presidents were honored and 1993-94 board president Steve Rempe officially launched our new Legacy Society -- a program designed to honor supporters who make provisions for the Center in their estate plans. Board President Charlotte Shell received recognition for her 5 years of service as president, noting how her vast contributions have made a tremendous difference.
Executive Director Cheryl Paddack described to guests that now more than ever youth in our community need access to services to support them in being successful in all aspects of their lives. Thanks to the generosity of so many, she explained that we are $30,000 away from raising our $2.4 million annual budget. District 5 Supervisor Judy Arnold then offered a challenge contribution of $10,000 from the County of Marin and encouraged guests to make a contribution to the Center's program.
Status to-date: Contributions were raised from this event and we are now outreaching for the remaining $10,000 in order to continue serving 3,500 youth and their families this year. Please click here to make a contribution or call (415) 892-1643, ext 228. We look forward to many more years of serving the Novato community. Thank you for your continued support. |
