Dear FCE Community,
As we settle into this new year, I am filled with anticipation, hope, and possibility. For our students, particularly our high school seniors, January is more than just a fresh start. It’s the time when emails and letters begin to arrive. When months of hard work, late nights, essays, applications, and persistence turn into college acceptances. It’s a time when dreams feel closer, more real, and within reach.
| | College Application Submissions | | | | FCE students submitted over 350 applications to more than 100 unique colleges and universities. Our scholars have begun receiving exciting early acceptances from Santa Clara Univeristy, San Jose State University, Loyola Marymount University, Seton Hall University, and Loyola Chicago University... and we know this is just the begining! | | I hope that as you watch the video and see students taking a deep breath before clicking submit that you feel what we feel every year: pride, joy, and optimism. This feeling comes from 30 years of seeing what is possible when young people are supported, encouraged, and never walk this journey alone. | | NBC Bay Area Featured FCE! | | FCE students traveled with our program managers to tour UC Davis and Sacramento State. Students learned about the resources that are available on each campus and envisioned themselves at both schools. College tours are essential for our students so that they can make informed decisions and select the school where they will thrive! | | Fall 2025 NorCal College Tours at UC Davis and Sacramento State | | College Representative Visits | | We can’t physically visit all the schools where our students apply, so we collaborate with colleges and universities all across the country to bring the schools to our students. During the fall, over 15 different college representatives came to our office to meet with our FCE students! We are known from coast to coast for our high expectations and high achievement! | | Fall 2025 College Representative Visits | | Career Learning, Exploration, and Readiness | | FCE students participated in the 2025 Strive to Thrive sponsored by Kaiser Permanente and SJSU. This was an interactive event that provided information about healthcare careers. We will definitely attend next year with a larger group of students. Thank you to the Strive to Thrive team for this opportunity! | | 2025 Kaiser Permante Strive to Thrive at San Jose State University | | At FCE, parent involvement has always been central to our program. We continue to engage with our parents even after their students are in college. Our parent success team meets quarterly to learn how to support their students. Parents recently gathered to prepare care packages, share experiences, and, as shown here, write notes of encouragement for students during final exams. | Fall 2025 Parent Success Care Package Preparation | | Our annual Holiday Faire brought together students, families, Board members, Advisory Board members, and community partners to celebrate students hard work. We played games, listened to student testimonials, and connected as a community focused on student success. Thanks to a generous donor, we gave away over $800 in gift cards to help our families who are facing tough financial times. | | |
Because of partners like you, our students enter this new year with confidence. They know that they belong in college and that they have a community behind them.
