Community Colleges Rally at the Capitol for Increased Funding
At the Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges’ Annual Lobby Day at the Capitol today, students, trustees, presidents and staff from Pennsylvania’s 14 community colleges joined together to advocate for an increased funding level in the 2019-20 fiscal year budget.
Bookstore Agreement Could Save Students 50% on Textbooks
Luzerne County Community College has entered into an agreement for bookstore management services with Follett Higher Education Group, Inc. Price reductions for Luzerne County Community College students
are expected to be in the range of a 30 percent to 50 percent savings on the cost of textbooks.
Manufacturing Community College Students Celebrate Job Offers
A recent grant allowed
Lehigh Carbon Community College to
offer a special tuition-free manufacturing course to students, and as a result, several of them received job offers before the program even ended. The grant was funded by the
PA Department of Community and Economic Development’s Manufacturing PA Program.
“I look forward to meeting and working with area high schools and community members to strengthen our partnerships and expand our programs for students,” she said.
