Community Colleges Offer Path to Life-Changing Apprenticeships
When global pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline sought an apprentice to work in the quality control department of its Upper Merion laboratory, it found two applicants that made it too difficult to choose. Karly Malone and Christina Newman, 19-year-old biotechnology majors from Montgomery County Community College, got the apprenticeship and invaluable job experience.
Nurse Aid Training Continues at Colleges During Pandemic
The Bucks County Community College class of eight future frontline workers began classes and labs in early October. In November, they’ll start clinical rotations at the Peter Becker Community, a retirement and assisted living facility in Harleysville, and will complete their 120 hours of training in December.
