in addition to providing affordable and responsive higher education to thousands of Pennsylvanians every year.
High School Students Enroll in “College in High School” Course
A new partnership with Westmoreland County Community College and Leechburg Area High School District is making a splash with students. These students are getting up close and personal with Pennsylvania’s official state fish while gaining hands-on conservation experience through the PA Trout In the Classroom program.
New Media Center Gives Students Insight into Digital Business
Students enrolled in Lehigh Carbon Community College’s sound and design programs have a more modern and collaborative work space thanks to major renovations at the college’s radio station, which now features computers with industry-standard design software, digital drawing tablets, a 3-D printer and more.
Community College Offers Free Dental Care to District Students
HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College's Dental Hygiene Program is providing a free day of care on Tuesday, February 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to West Shore School District students ages 6 and older who have limited or no access to dental care.
Culinary Arts Institute at Community College Launches Foreign Studies Program
Montgomery County Community College is working with the Marco Polo Institute to offer an international study program in Italy for culinary students. Jack Maxwell, the host of a Travel Channel show, introduced the program during a recent event at the college.

State Senator Andy Dinniman was recently reappointed to his leadership role as Minority Chair of the Senate Education Committee for the 2019 - 2020 legislative session. This marks the sixth consecutive session that Sen. Dinniman, who holds a doctorate in education, has been appointed to the post. PA College Librarian Named One of Best in Country
Terri Gallagher , a reference librarian with the Community College of Beaver County , was recently honored by the American Library Association as one of the top librarians in the country. She was one of only ten librarians to receive the "I Love My Librarian Award" at a ceremony in New York City. More than 1,000 individuals were nominated by students and colleagues across the country.
Radio Personality Started at Community College
On-air personality and promotions director at Rock 107 , Mark Hoover credits his start in radio, in part, to Luzerne County Community College 's Technology Center. His education and career path changed after noticing a sign posted at the college's student radio station, WSFX , that advertised openings for radio disc jockeys. Mark now runs the internship program at his radio station, helping mentor other young minds with a passion for music.
