Associate Degrees Linked to Better Employment and Earnings
A recent study by the
American Council on Education says
students who earn an associate degree are more likely to have jobs, earn higher wages and own a home, among other things. The research follows other findings by
Belfield and Bailey that found students who earn an associate degree can expect to earn anywhere between $4,640 and $7,160 more per year.
Colleges Partner on Manufacturing Innovation Programs
Westmoreland County Community College has partnered with
Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) in Pittsburgh on an ambitious plan to
develop a technician training program in emerging technologies. ARM is one of the 14 manufacturing innovation institutes created as part of a federal program to revitalize American manufacturing.
Community College Hosts "Women in STEM" Lecture
The
Luzerne County Community College Science Club held a "Women in STEM" lecture last week. Members of the science faculty at the college and local women employed in STEM
presented research and information on careers in the STEM field.
Radiologic Program Receives Top Accreditation Award
The Radiologic Technology Program at HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, was recently reaccredited for eight years, the maximum award of accreditation given by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. HACC’s Radiologic Technology associate degree program is offered in cooperation with affiliated hospitals, physician’s offices and medical imaging centers in the region.
