Community Colleges Celebrate PTK Completion Week
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society's Completion Week brings colleges together to celebrate student success and college completion. Several elected officials, including Gov. Tom Wolf, submitted video messages of encouragement for current students that will be played at community colleges across the Commonwealth and shared on social media.
Entrepreneurship Class Offered at Annual Women's Summit
Last week, Bucks County Community College held its third annual Women's Summit on Entrepreneurship. The event, which was free to Bucks students and alumni, provided business advice to women who want to start, expand or lead entrepreneurial initiatives. Featured speakers included Nicole Michalik and Mary Honkus.
Many Community College Students are Food or Housing Insecure
Isabel Estrada is studying to be a biomechanical engineer, but she's often hungry when she heads to Luzerne County Community College or her job. "I won't be able to concentrate in classes, and I won't be able to perform my best academically," she said in an interview with WNEP.

"I know firsthand that a post-secondary education can empower individuals. As a graduate of the Community College of Allegheny County , and Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University , I have had the incredible opportunity to open doors that otherwise may never have been available to me," said Sen. Jay Costa in a recent interview about higher education in Pennsylvania .
