in addition to providing affordable and responsive higher education to thousands of Pennsylvanians every year.
College Celebrates Workforce Training Center Groundbreaking
Last week, the Community College of Allegheny County broke ground on the college’s new Workforce Training Center, which will further align the college with 21st century workforce needs. The new facility will house programs for in-demand fields such as cybersecurity, information technology, machine learning, advanced manufacturing and robotics, among others.
Simulated Patient Allows College to Train Tomorrow’s Nurses Today
She complains of pain, of nausea. She coughs. Regurgitates. Her heartbeat slows, then races. Her oxygen level takes an unexpected dive. Simone is the newest simulated patient within Butler County Community College’s Shaffer School of Nursing and Allied Health. BC3 recently added Simone to its inventory of state-of-the-art medical technology to train the next generation of nurses.
College Invests in Sustainability through 100% Renewable Energy
Northampton Community College was recently recognized for supplying 100 percent of its electricity with renewable energy. The college’s Monroe campus includes buildings rated gold on the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standard, helping demonstrate to the local community and other higher education institutions what it means to promote sustainability.
