Community colleges play an important role in educating and training current and future generations of workers,
in addition to providing affordable and responsive higher education to thousands of Pennsylvanians every year.
Community Colleges Partner to Train Philly Maritime Workers
Local leaders recently joined the Collegiate Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development in celebrating the official opening of the Citizens Bank Regional Maritime Training Center. Members of the Consortium include
Bucks County Community College, Delaware County Community College, Montgomery County Community College and Community College of Philadelphia. Together with other higher education institutions in and around Philadelphia, these colleges developed the curriculum for the new training center.

Manufacturing Summit Features
Technology and Cyber Security
Reading Area Community College recently hosted more than 125 local and regional manufacturing leaders and vendors for a SMART Automation Summit. The summit featured keynote speakers from the National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers, Nimble Leader and Enterprise Ventures Corporation.
Community College Offers an Affordable Start for Students
Ten days before heading to college, alarmed at a sibling’s $80,000 college debt, Elijah Sommer stopped himself “from getting sucked into the flow of everybody else.” Instead, he enrolled at  Lehigh Carbon Community College then transferred to Muhlenberg College. Now a senior, he's majoring in biochemistry with plans to go to medical school.
