Property Purchase is First Step in New Community-Centered Campus
Dr. L. Joy Gates Black, president of
Delaware County Community College, recently announced comprehensive plans for the historic former
Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School property. The purchase of the property is a first step towards
creating a new, full-service, comprehensive community-centered campus.
Community College Receives EPA Green Power Leadership Award
What do
Northampton Community College,

Samsung have in common? They were recently honored by the
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with the
2019 Green Power Leadership Award! The college was
one of only seven organizations nationwide to receive the award.
Community College of Beaver County Holds Inauguration
Last week,
Community College of Beaver County held an inauguration for
Dr. Roger Davis, the college's ninth president. Dr. Davis, who was interim president from May 2018 through February 2019, previously served as executive vice president and provost. Dr. Davis is
the college's youngest president and the first African-American to lead the school.
Meet Wayne Downs: Driver Who Dreamed of Being an Educator
For 15 years,
Wayne Downs was a truck driver, and although he made a good living,
he had always dreamed of being a teacher. At 39, he decided to follow that dream and enroll at
Montgomery County Community College. Today Mr. Downs, now 45, teaches in the
Spring-Ford Area School District.
The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia Spotlights Two Community College Grow PA Champions
Grow PA, a statewide initiative that convenes people and organizations to advance a modern growth agenda, recently shared perspectives from two community college leaders. Dr. John J. “Ski” Sygielski, President of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, and Dr. Gaetan Giannini, Dean of Business and Entrepreneurial Initiatives at Montgomery County Community College both offered insight into how colleges can prepare their students for 21st century jobs.
