in addition to providing affordable and responsive higher education to thousands of Pennsylvanians every year.
Parkland School Shooting First Responder Honored by Alma Mater
Westmoreland County Community College recently recognized Police Chief Clyde Parry, a 1985 honors graduate, as a Distinguished Alumnus during the college’s 48 th annual commencement ceremony. On Valentine’s Day, Parry directed the police response for the Parkland school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.
Community College Arboretum Enhances Hands-On Learning
Northampton Community College’s Bethlehem Campus has been awarded a Level I Accreditation by ArbNet Arboretum and was added to the Morton Register of Arboreta, a database of the world’s gardens dedicated to woody plants. Spanning the entire 206-acre campus, the arboretum hosts more than 47 species of trees.
HACC Among Most Promising Places to Work for Second Year
For the second year in a row, "Diverse: Issues in Higher Education" has recognized HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, among the 19 most promising places to work in community colleges. The honor is based on a compilation of workplace diversity and data collected from a survey of employees.
American Association of Community Colleges appoints
RACC President to Commission on Student Success 
The American Association of Community Colleges recently announced the appointment of Reading Area Community College President Dr. Susan D. Looney to its Commission on Student Success, effective July 1, 2019. The Commission on Student Success focuses on student access, success and organizational transformation. The commission may examine subject areas which include degree completion and two-year to four-year transfer.
