Meet Barbara: Student, Veteran and Future Business Owner
When Barbara Bowman was an active-duty Marine, it was difficult to further their education because of job duties and the demands of raising two children. After the Marines, Barbara went through a divorce and became a single parent. Fortunately, Barbara found HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, and now has the confidence to pursue their dreams.
Seeds of Greenhouse Project Sprout at Community College
Michelle Myers, an assistant professor at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, recently kicked off a campaign to install a greenhouse at the college. Once open in summer 2021, the building will provide an additional teaching resource and produce the college can donate to food pantries and local organizations
From Community College to COVID Research, A Nontraditional Path
When Yaya Dia took a Community College of Philadelphia biology class, a passion for medicine was born. Now, he is joining the fight against COVID-19 as an apprentice at Philadelphia’s Wistar Institute. The 128-year-old biomedical research center is helping to study a vaccine developed at Inovio Pharmaceuticals.
