in addition to providing affordable and responsive higher education to thousands of Pennsylvanians every year.
Colleges Partner to Establish Maritime Training Programs
Thanks to curriculum development by Bucks County Community College, Community College of Philadelphia, Delaware County Community College, Montgomery County Community College and others, hundreds of workers in Philadelphia’s maritime industry soon will have access to specialized training programs.
PA College Receives One of Only 17 Country-Wide Aviation Grants
The Community College of Beaver County's School of Aviation Sciences was one of only 17 aviation schools in the country to receive a grant from American Airlines. The College was awarded a $25,000 grant for being a top innovative aviation organization.
Community Colleges Offer Credits to High School Students 
Community College of Allegheny County and Penn Hills School District have partnered to offer high school students an opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. The program offers an alternative to the traditional method of taking the AP exam. 
LCCC Appoints Vice President
Vance Powers recently was appointed vice president for finance and administrative services at Lehigh Carbon Community College. In his position at LCCC, Mr. Powers will oversee human resources, the business office, maintenance and facilities, and public safety. Mr. Powers earned his MBA in finance from Lehigh University and his bachelor’s degree from Gettysburg College.
Congratulations to Rep. Curt Sonney!
State Representative Curt Sonney was recently appointed majority chairman of the Pennsylvania House Education Committee for the 2019 - 2020 Legislative Session by Speaker of the House Mike Turzai . The Education Committee deals with issues pertaining to both basic and higher education. Please contact Rep. Scholarship Established in Memory of Former Employee
First-generation college students at HACC’s Harrisburg Campus will benefit from a new scholarship established in memory of Kim Bleecher , a former employee of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College . The Kim Mecray Bleecher Scholarship fund is designed to support individuals who are the first person in their immediate families to attend college and provide financial resources to help them pursue their academic goals.
