Community colleges play an important role in educating and training current and future generations of workers,
in addition to providing affordable and responsive higher education to thousands of Pennsylvanians every year.
High School Partnership Means Learning for College Students
The Parkland Transitions program offers learning opportunities to Lehigh Carbon Community College’s teacher education students and the Parkland students they are mentoring. The program is for special education students who have graduated from Parkland High School and want to learn self-advocacy and life skills.
Community Colleges Receive Funding to Battle Opioid Abuse
The  Pennsylvania Department of Drug & Alcohol Programs awarded nearly $1,000,000 in federal grants to reduce and prevent the use of opioids by college students. Among the colleges and universities receiving the grants are Delaware County Community CollegeLehigh Carbon Community College and  Montgomery County Community College.
Gov. Wolf Allocates Funds for Manufacturing Apprenticeship
Gov. Tom Wolf recently announced that $200,000 will go toward expanding metalwork job training and apprenticeship opportunities at Bucks County Community College. The college offers free, 12-week programs, which provide "soft skills" training, job shadowing opportunities and individualized job placement to help manufacturing employer partners. 
New Penn Highlands Community College President Wants to "Meet Everyone"
The new  Pennsylvania Highlands Community College  President, Dr. Steve Nunez , wants to hear from you. In a recent interview, he told the Tribune Democrat , “Over the next six months, I want to meet everyone... I want people to tell me their stories. And I’ll ask a lot of questions.”

Dr. Nunez began serving as Penn Highlands’s newest president the first week of January 2020, after working as a teacher, researcher and senior administrator at a community college in Illinois.
