Community colleges play an important role in educating and training current and future generations of workers,
in addition to providing affordable and responsive higher education to thousands of Pennsylvanians every year.
Pennsylvania Community Colleges Address Racial Inequality
Many members of the community college community are concerned about recent events and want to renew their commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. The colleges issued statements of solidarity, held events to help educate community members about injustice and offered resources for those who are struggling. 
Students Should Continue Education Despite Pandemic
Donald “Guy” Generals, Ed.D., M.A., President of the Community College of Philadelphia, urged students not to let COVID-19 derail their education. He wrote to the Philadelphia Inquirer, "The lesson to be learned from community college students is to not let a year go by without making educational progress. Preparing for the post-pandemic future should be a top priority."
Colleges Welcome Career & Technical Education Students
Elizabeth Bolden, President & CEO of the PA Commission for Community Colleges, and Jackie Cullen, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Association of Career and Technical Administrators, issued a statement regarding career and technical education articulation affected by COVID-19 closures.
