Misinterpretation of IT Power Trends
Part 2 - Avoiding the Danger

By Parallel's
Nate Clyde
Director of Mechanical & Electrical Infrastructure Delivery

During Part 1, I discussed the misinterpretation of IT Power Trends and how it leads IT and DC Managers into forced "over-procurement." The misinterpretation of these trends can result in poor decisions on procurement, misguided business planning and can potentially cost companies millions in additional and unnecessary cap-ex and op-ex spends.

So what can we do to prevent the unnecessary "procurement hedging"?

Since many companies have found the value of bringing "IT" to the facilities table, what we have recognized is the servers/storage/network (while it can vary greatly in memory, CPU, and power requirement) being installed in the data center is only one part of the equation.
