An e-newsletter for friends of Parish Health Ministry

Fall 2014

Dear Friends of Parish Health Ministry,

I have found another excellent resource in a country doctor named William Hablitzel, MD.  He is a local physician currently serving in a health clinic in rural Adams County.  A past Refresh Your Soul Conference attendee told me about him and encouraged me to read his books and consider him as a speaker for Refresh Your Soul 2015 (RYS).  I was inspired by what I learned about him and have secured him for RYS.

Dr. Hablitzel understands and explains the meaning of "healing vs. curing" in a way that is clear and touches your heart. He shares how his greatest teachers have not been his professors in medical school or experts at medical conferences, but rather his greatest teachers have been his patients.  He has written several books including The 12 Secrets of Healing and Dying is the Best Thing that Ever Happened to Me, and they are wonderful!  Please join us on Feb. 28, 2014 for RYS as we meet Dr. Hablitzel along with two other fabulous speakers!

May God continue to bless you and your ministry,

Jeanne Palcic MGS, RN

PHM Says Good-bye to Rose

"What a lovely thing a Rose is!"

- Arthur Conan Doyle, The Naval Treaty

For 12 years, ERH Parish Health Ministry coordinator and early riser, Rose Lindeman, has greeted us, her co-workers, with her smile and laughter as we arrived.  Rose retired from her regular, part time PHM position in June 2014.  However, she is staying on "as needed" (PRN) with PHM to help with special projects and will remain the lead for her parish, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

A Time for Celebration

By Rev. Rhonda Johnson, BSN, RN

Throughout the ages, celebration has been a very important piece of the story of historical events. Ecclesiastes 3:1 & 4 says there is a time for everything, "a season for every activity under Heaven" and "a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance." The Parish Health Ministry Program has been serving congregations, companies and the greater community for 16 years.  We need to make celebration a part of our story and the legacy we leave.
