The Integrated Training Collaborative (ITC) coordinates Virginia's Comprehensive System of Personnel Development (CSPD) which is the professional development system for early interventionists who provide supports and services to eligible children and families under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Family Engagement

Our June Talks on Tuesday (ToT) focused on supporting family engagement. Most early interventionists are very familiar with the stages of grief but what about the stages of awareness? Have you ever considered that the families with whom you work are on a journey? They are frequently navigating through an unfamiliar, and sometimes scary, infrastructure of new vocabulary, services and providers while also managing emotional stressors and challenges. Understanding where families are in their stage of awareness could help you provide more effective EI services.

totTALKS ON TUESDAYS



Talks on Tuesdays (ToTs) are one-hour webinars designed to provide free online training opportunities related to important topics in early intervention. Topics chosen for the Talks on Tuesdays webinar series are based on feedback from EI practitioners about what they need to know more about! ToTs are held on the first Tuesday of the month from 12:00-1:00PM.

Talks on Tuesdays will return from summer vacation in September. Stay tuned for the next topic and registration on the  Talks on Tuesdays page in August !

 ITC Activities Update

June finds ITC staff busy.
  • We completed work on the Authentic Assessment module which will launch on July 1st.
  • Staff presented a national webinar on the new Authentic Assessment module.
  • We are "knee deep" in revisions to the Child Development module. It is scheduled to be ready for use in October.
  • Staff presented a national webinar on providing interactive webinars.
  • We launched a new professional development tool, Learning Bytes.
  • Spring Kaleidoscope CoPs have completed their 2nd sessions.
  • Coaching Implementation Support group completed its 5th meeting last month.
  • Staff are partnering with ITC Norfolk to pilot an orientation process for service coordinators about coaching practices.
