From Pattie Ames
My St. Columba family,
It is with many emotions that I announce my resignation from St. Columba’s Episcopal Church as Director of Children’s Ministries. I have been called to serve as the Christian Formation Missioner for the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to serve this parish for twenty-one years. It has been a joy to watch generations of children grow up and walk with families on their faith journey. This parish has nurtured and supported me in my ministry, and you will be in my prayers as we begin this new chapter of our lives.
My last Sunday at St. Columba’s is June 16, and I know saying goodbye will not be easy. I take comfort in knowing that this place is not about any one person, and that the ministry to and with children and their families will continue to be a strong component of what makes this place so special. I know there is a solid foundation for others to build on this program, and the time has come for me to share my gifts with others.
I hope you will join me on June 16 to celebrate all the wonderful ways we have experienced and shared our joys and sorrows, love and laughter, and seeing Christ in one other.
I am sad to see Pattie go and to lose her as a colleague. I give thanks for her extraordinary ministry among us and her personal witness to the love of Christ. I rejoice with Pattie that she now begins a new adventure and will share her great gifts in a role of diocesan leadership. Let us create a joyful day on June 16 to say Godspeed with our love.
