PCHC Hosts Annual Meeting with National Community Health Center Leader    
PCHC hosted its Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 5, with special guest speaker, Dan Hawkins, Senior Vice-President for Public Policy and Research at the National Association of Community Health Centers, Inc. (NACHC), where he provides NACHC's membership with federal and state health-related policy research, analysis, advocacy, and leadership.  Mr. Hawkins discussed the History of the Community Health Center Movement. Dan Hawkins has been involved with the movement for 45 years.

The 1st annual Dr. Robert P. Allen Award for Quality, named for PCHC's former Executive Medical Director, was also presented during the event in recognition and appreciation of leaders who founded the CHAMP Clinic which is dedicated to improving the quality of life and futures of high risk infants born in our region.
PCHC Named Leader in LGBT Care

PCHC has been named a Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation for the sixth year in a row.  The honor is given to facilities that meet LGBT-inclusive benchmarks that are part of HRC Foundation's Healthcare Equality Index 2016, a unique annual survey that encourages equal care for LGBT Americans by evaluating inclusive policies and practices related to LGBT patients, visitors and employees. PCHC 1 of 2 healthcare organizations in Maine to receive this recognition.

US Clubhouse Hosts Open House

Unlimited Solutions Clubhouse hosted an open house on Thursday, March 24th at 30 Summer Street, Bangor, to celebrate their recent expansion. Clubhouse Members and staff hosted the event to share about their dynamic program and all that it has to offer. Members provided tours and refreshments, shared their stories, and also performed a song for attendees.  Jack Yatsko, Chief Operating Officer for Clubhouse International, was guest speaker for the event.  The Unlimited Solutions Clubhouse serves more than 120 members and focuses on recovery from mental illness through the use of a therapeutic environment and work responsibilities within the Clubhouse and community partnerships.
Seaport Community Health Center Earns Highest NCQA Recognition as PCMH

We are pleased to announce that the providers and staff of Seaport Community Health Center, 53 Schoodic Drive, Belfast, have again achieved the highest level of recognition, Level III, as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).  Seaport Community Health Center providers and staff first earned recognition from NCQA as a Level III Patient-Centered Medical Home in 2013.
PCHC Team Hikes for the Homeless
More than 35 employees joined PCHC's team to hike in the Bangor Annual Homeless Shelter's 21st Annual Hike for the Homeless on April 9th. PCHC joined the hike to show support for those experiencing homeless in our community and for the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter. 

PCHC provides an integrated model of care for the homeless in our community at the Hope House Health and Living Center, located at 179-181 Corporate Drive in Bangor, including health care, shelter, 3 meals per day and transitional housing. The Hope House Shelter is a 66 person emergency homeless shelter, the 2nd largest shelter in the state of Maine.
PCHC Expands Access with New Providers
 
Christopher Mannari, PA-C, has joined the staff of PCHC's Walk-in Care Centers. Mr. Mannari received both his undergraduate degree and his Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant studies from Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Mr. Mannari has practiced for more than 10 years, most recently at Health Access Network, Lincoln.

Samantha Gilligan, FNP-C, has joined the staff of Seaport Community Health Center. Ms. Gilligan received both her undergraduate degree and her Master of Science in Family Advanced Practice Nursing from Columbia University School of Nursing.  Ms. Gilligan completed clinical rotations at various practices and hospitals in New York, as well as a clinical rotation at PCHC's Brewer Medical Center.
