We are pleased to announce that Montressor Upshaw, DDS, MBA, Chief Dental Officer, and Terri Bell, DDS, MS, MBA, Associate Chief Dental Officer, have been chosen to lead the providers and staff of PCHC Dental Center, 1048 Union Street, Bangor. Philip Higgins, Jr., DMD, departing Chief Dental Officer, is now semi-retired and will serve at PCHC's Dental Center at Helen Hunt Health Center in Old Town two days per week.

Kenneth Schmidt, MPA, President and CEO, states, "Drs. I know they will work collaboratively with PCHC's many committed dental providers and staff throughout PCHC to provide the finest care possible."
Primary Care Workforce Transformation

The University of New England (UNE) has been awarded a five-year, $2.5 million federal grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to partner with PCHC to transform the primary care workforce in rural and underserved Maine and improve health outcomes.
Over the course of this five-year grant, a total of 255 UNE students - 160 medical, 25 physician assistant, and 70 pharmacy students - will train together at PCHC, learning the skills needed for exemplary interprofessional, team-based care. They will also hone complementary skills needed for this century, including social determinants of health, oral health knowledge, health literacy, and shared decision making with patients. UNE faculty will work onsite with 30 PCHC clinicians, preparing them to become clinical faculty for these new proficiencies.
Committed to Inclusive Care For All

PCHC employees and friends participated in the Bangor Pride Parade on Saturday, June 25th to show support for the LGBTQ community and share that PCHC is committed to equitable, inclusive care for LGBTQ patients, and their families. We strive to provide an environment that is inclusive, patient-centered, and welcoming to all. PCHC has been highlighted in the Healthcare Equality Index as a Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality for 6 years in a row.
