Celebrating 10 Years of Helping Pets & Their People!

In 2013, we set out on a mission to make affordable, high-quality veterinary care accessible to our community's beloved pets, regardless of their families’ financial circumstances. As we now reflect on the accomplishments and successes of the past ten years, we extend our deepest gratitude to the many dedicated Board members, staff, volunteers, donors, and grantors who have supported us in this journey. Together we have provided care, comfort, and solace to both pets and their people in times of need.

Did You Know?

PETS CAN IMPROVE OUR HEALTH!

Research shows what we and our fellow pet lovers have always known in our hearts: as we take care of our pets, they’re caring for us in return!

  • Regular physical activity with pets can decrease blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
  • Being active, along with the socialization a pet brings, boosts cognitive function--especially in older adults.
  • Pets support mental health. Having a companion can help owners manage loneliness, depression, and symptoms of PTSD.
  • Science reveals when a dog is deeply bonded with a human, oxytocin (the love hormone) spikes in both as they look into each other’s eyes.

MEET MING LEE

Ming's owner recently found Pets In Need when she googled "affordable vet care" and says "It's been a Godsend" in keeping her dog healthy. Ming was adopted as a puppy, but now at age 14, Ming has Cushing’s disease, arthritis, and other chronic health issues that require regular care and monitoring.

"She can barely hear and her eyes are glazing over but she still has a great quality of life," her mom said. Pets in Need provides affordable medications and services to help Ming keep her spunky attitude -which she shared with us during a recent clinic visit.

See you again soon, Ming Lee!

Staff Spotlight: Dr. Z

Dr. Zeke Zekoff - better known as "Dr. Z" - joined us last October after retiring from Towne Square Animal Clinic, the practice he owned and operated for 30+ years. He is our primary provider of surgical and dental services.

Zeke is the founder of United Pet Fund, which provides resources to small animal welfare organizations throughout the Midwest, including Pets In Need. He also helped to start the part-time Pets In Need program UCAN in 2009. We're glad to have you on our team, Dr. Z!

FUNDING NEWS!

For the second time, Paycor has selected Pets in Need as a Community Impact Grant recipient. This $5,000 award will subsidize the costs of performing basic bloodwork on clinic pets to identify potentially unseen health issues. One hundred clients will be able to get this potentially lifesaving diagnostic service for their pets at a cost of only $5.00.

Many thanks to Paycor for this tremendous support of our clients and their pets!

Volunteer Spotlight: Sue Bennett, RVT

After "retiring" from 32 years at the City of Blue Ash, Sue Bennett turned her lifelong passion for animals into a second career as an RVT. She worked for 8 years at a small clinic and then In 2020 "retired" again. And (lucky for us!) she then began volunteering at PIN once a week. “I always wanted my RVT career to include a volunteer role, and being here fits the bill,” Sue says. “I’m so blessed to be working beside such a wonderful and dedicated team—helping pet families who need a little extra help.”

Sue’s furry family members include a Quarter Horse, a mini donkey, three rescue dogs, and three previously-stray cats.

Thank you, Sue, for all you do!
