Join us for "Pinned," as 26 artists put their spin on the sometimes ridiculed activity of bowling and transform regulation maple bowling pins into objects of whimsy, humor, provocation, mystery and curiosity. Instead of knocking down pins, artists will score points by building them up and turning them into art.
Cheryl Harper's cosmological "Galaxy Lane" shares common ground with Bryan Smith's "Mechanical Quantum Kinetic Energetic Pin Action," while Michael Biello's "Electric Pin" sheds actual light on the sport and on viewers. Paul Rigby's "The Uncounted Wages of Mixed Martial Arts" provides a sober assessment of sport, while Kim Knauer's "Take the Skinheads Bowling" riffs off the Camper Van Beethoven song of the same name. Holly Smith's "Teddy Bear's Picnic or Game Over," adds a note of humorous contemporary social critique. Other artists deal with mythology, anthropology, fashion, sexuality, nature, and human nature - all in creative and often hilarious ways.
Artists: Michael Biello, Kt Carney, Lynden DeCline, Hannah Fink, t.a. hahn, Melissa Maddoni Haims, Cheryl Harper, Rebecca Hoenig, Monica Kane, Leslie Kaufman, Peter Kinney, Kim Knauer, Jesse Lentz, Carla Liguori, Joanna Lukasik, Maria Markovich, Elizabeth Miller McCue, Deanna McLaughlin, Anita Meenen, Howard Neifeld, Paul Rigby, Zygmunt Sawosko, Bryan D.
