Homecoming Weekend Plan

Dear Pleasantville Families,

Homecoming Weekend captures the spirit of what it means to be a part of the Pleasantville school community. It’s also a good time to remind everyone that celebrations and competitions need to be safe and follow school guidelines for appropriate conduct on the field and off.

As you can see from the schedule, there is no bonfire planned for this year. The safety of the students playing on the softball field was prioritized over having a bonfire. The collaborative efforts of the PHS Parent Council Organization (PCO), High School Principal Joe Palumbo and the Pleasantville Fire Department did not yield another alternative that was safe and did not damage school facilities. I encourage you to have your child join the student council so they can plan future homecoming weekend events that reflect their interests.

We are excited to cheer on each team this week as part of the homecoming celebrations. Expectations of athletes and spectators during competitions have been outlined. We ask that you review these as necessary. Adult and student spectators that are under the influence will not be permitted to attend or remain at school-sponsored events.

We are hosting the Homecoming football game on Friday, October 13 at 6 p.m. We have introduced changes to better ensure the safety of our students and support and encourage positive behavior. These include avoiding crowding at the bleachers, increasing supervision, and forbidding bags and coolers at the game. Seating in bleachers will be on a first come first serve basis. When the seats are full, attendees will be directed to standing room only areas behind both endzones.

We wish to honor many of the traditions of Homecoming Weekend in Pleasantville while creating new ones that future generations of Panthers may enjoy. I look forward to seeing you this weekend. Go Panthers!

For the youth,

Dr. Tina DeSa

Superintendent of Schools
