Featured Faculty

Tim Walker, PCA Faculty

Class: Life Drawing Studio

Next Class begins Jan 7th

Tim Walker joined the PCA Faculty in 2024. He studied Visual Art at The Art Institute of Boston and has a background in Fine Art and Illustration.

Tim emphasizes that fundamental drawing, painting, and composition skills can be acquired by anyone, at any age with an open mind and positive attitude.

Tim's classes are designed to support and build on each student's existing skill base and experience while introducing new concepts and techniques.

Jill Voelker, PCA Faculty

Class: Spontaneous Inventive Symmetry

Next Class begins Jan 8th

Jill Voelker is the mastermind behind Psycho-Symmetry – a spontaneous, inventive approach to symmetry that yields beautifully intricate visual art. Through her novel approach, each student is able to create moving, elaborate compositions, regardless of one’s expertise.

Jill helps students develop their own individual technique, in the moment. This exploration is part art and part personal psychology. Drawing is done freehand, one mark at a time, using shapes and forms in a decidedly symmetric pattern.

Each student explores balance, harmony and proportion. Forms are mirrored, flipped or otherwise arranged. The more complex the forms, the more interesting the art becomes. Each design is further enhanced as color is applied. Symmetric patterns vary dramatically depending on the color application. The overall work is done when the student is pleased with the results.

A New Collaboration

Plymouth Center for the Arts is a member of the Boston South Visual Art Trail, a new collaboration with four other art organizations: the Art Complex Museum, the South Shore Art Center, the Fuller Craft Museum, and the Attleboro Arts Museum.

By pooling our limited marketing funds, this collaboration has allowed PCA to reach a wider audience with ads on WGBH and in ArtScope magazine. The Art Trail was also featured on WGBH's The Culture Show with Jared Bowen.

Each of these organizations offers free admission, with rotating art exhibits throughout the year. PCA will be organizing Member trips to each of these art centers in the coming year.
