Regarding Ruling Elders: Meeting as God's Leading
by The Reverend Dr. Diana Nishita Cheifetz

I dread meetings. As a lifelong Presbyterian, I am embarrassed to admit this. Meetings can feel tedious, frustrating, confusing, and
so  unspiritual.
Meetings are a significant part of how we, as people of faith, discern, organize, and execute decisions and actions. They are how we get things done. But most importantly, it is through meetings that together we listen to and act upon God's leading.
I've been reflecting on what makes meetings challenging for me. I am asking myself questions and looking at what I can do about it. While your experiences and context are different than mine, perhaps one, or more, will strike a chord for you.
  1. Am I using my voice? Am I helping other voices to be heard?

PCUSA Christian Education Survey
At the last General Assembly, commissioners voted to establish a Special Committee to Study the Reformed Perspective of Christian Education in the 21st Century.  They are passing along a link to a survey that we hope will yield more about the current state of Christian education and formation in the church, the problems people face, as well as what part Christian education will play in the life of the church.

Please do participate!  The survey should take you 15 minutes or so.  The more responses we get, the better beginning to our understanding will be.  Please forward the link to those in your networks who are involved in Christian Education (especially if you have already completed this).
