The height of design

The Z3 is our solution to digital progression within the music industry. A phenomenal amount of sheet music 'Apps' now exist, suggesting the industry is moving away from traditional sheet music in favour of reading music from tablet devices.

Tablets and similar gadgets offer many advantages over sheet music such as instantly providing access to any music, storing all music in one manageable location, freeing valuable storage space and of course with an illuminated screen, lighting is not a requirement.

Z3 is the first in what will be a series of tablet floor stands, designed to meet the demands of the music industry and fill an unmet need in the consumer market.

With a telescopic stem and hinged iPad cradle, the stand holds the device securely at any height or angle. This makes the stand suitable for any musician, from a cellist to a trumpet player.

In keeping with the design of tablets, Z3 is lightweight and portable; folding flat in just 3 simple moves. A 360 degree rotation feature on the cradle enables the iPad to be operated in landscape and portrait modes.

Sophisticated LED's for a state of the art venue

The highly recognisable Walt Disney Concert hall is one of the most sophisticated venues in terms of both its acoustics and architecture. It is home to the renowned LA Philharmonic orchestra who are now the users of the best lamps available on any music stand, our very own LEDclip Light.

These highly durable LED's give full illumination of the score with less spillage than any light we are aware of. You wont be left in the dark during your performance!

In addition the LED's produce all of this light whilst remaining conservative on electricity. With the need to replace bulbs also eliminated, this state of the art music stand light is a sound investment for any professional musician or organisation.

Conductor's rostrum, raise your performance!

You may not have noticed, the Conductor's rostrum has now been added to our product range! The one metre square platform is constructed from our lightweight, portable staging (Stage3). Supplied with skirts and handrails, the podium can be constructed to any height required thanks to its removable legs. Standard specification legs are 200mm with additional lengths available to order. This provides customers with a cost effective option over our electronically operated Grand opera conductor's rostrum.

The Royal Marines band and SOCA have recently taken delivery of the rostrum.

We always enjoy hearing what our customers have to say about our products and in the limelight recently has been the Jazz stand. For those that don't know the Jazz stand it is an extremely versatile stand, folding flat in just 3 movements as well as being extremely robust. Ideal for the musician on the move or schools with limited space for storage.

"The designer of the RAT Jazz stand should be awarded a gong for this. In playing professionally for some 50 years I don't think I've ever come across such a well produced piece of musical kit. I rank its design almost as good as the Fender bass. Just one small modification needed - separate sheets of music do tend to slide off the rack, I'm still working on a solution to this to avoid having to angle the desk more towards the horizontal. Glenn

Name: Glenn Chapman

Position: Operations Manager

Interests: 'I love music, I enjoy listening to all genres of music from Ska to Indie. I play drums and percussion, I also play guitar. Also I write and produce some of my own music.

Football is my favourite sport, although being a Spurs fan some people may question that statement!'

How did you get this role - What is your background and career path so far?

'I have worked for Deutche Bank, Northern Trust and Hermes pension fund, I have traded Financial Futures, worked on the International Petroleum exchange and been a professional percussionist before I joined RAT stands in September 2008. I have studied music technology and engineering and think this variety of skill sets help me in my role here.'
