Monthly tips and observations from Director of Tennis, Marcos Ondruska
Poaching Opportunities in Doubles
Look for opportunities to cross when your baseline partner hits the ball through the center of the court.
In Exhibit A you can clearly see that Player 1 will find it significantly tougher to hit down the line off the center ball as there is simply less angle to hit into. This provides the opportunity to look for center balls. Especially if Player 1 is a little defensive.
Cover the line when the ball is wide. Make sure that you don’t let balls pass you down the line when your baseline partner hits good angles.
In Exhibit B you see that your partner has hit a great angle wide off his groundstroke and Player 1 is stretched wide. Take a couple of steps left to make sure that Player 1 cannot pass you down the line. Split step at contact and look for potential opportunities. If Player 1 is at total stretch, down the line becomes the significantly higher probability shot.

The Case of the Missing Towels...
RTC provides towels for member and guest use. We understand how easy it is to accidentally stick a towel in your tennis bag when you are cleaning up on the court.
Last month we purchased 60 towels and find that only 8 remain. While we want to continue providing this amenity we do need to ensure these are returned. If you have inadvertently taken one of RTC's towels home we would greatly appreciate you returning it.
