Greetings!
We just completed a great celebration of National Lutheran Schools week this past Friday with chapel messages from Mr. Muther and Pastor Rob James. Our chapel/homeroom messages for the week focused on how we are members of the family of God through our baptism. It was great to hear student testimonies as well as faith stories from members of our community who shared how God has been working in their lives. We continue the baptism theme with offering collections this week through our home rooms to support fresh water projects throughout the world through Lutheran World Relief. We thank God for the blessing of Lutheran schools and the opportunity to change lives through His love.
This next week will see our faculty in workshops on technology and teacher evaluation. We will begin implementing new components of our teacher evaluation system which will enable us to gather the data from administrative, peer and self-evaluations and create a professional learning plan targeting specific instructional elements. These elements, determined through extensive research to have a significant impact on student achievement, will enable our teachers to more effectively engage our students in significant learning experiences. The components of this new on-line program will enable more effective utilization of data from over 50 full class administrative observations that have already occurred to result in quality professional growth plans. This new process, which has been designed and supported by faculty and administration alike, will promote wonderful new learning experiences for our students.
Our other topic will involve teacher application of a variety of tablets and portable computer devices to the classroom experience. Exploration of a variety of apps and subject specific programs will help our teachers stay abreast of new developments in instructional technology. Look forward for more exciting news on this topic.
In His Service,
Don Kortze

High Honor Roll is 4.0 and above.
Honor Roll is 3.5 to 3.99.
Honorable Mention is 3.0 and above with no "D"s.
As you can see over 30% of our student body earned a 4.O or above. Over 70% have their names on this list. This is just another reason why parents choose to send their children to Rockford Lutheran. They are surrounded by other motivated students. You know, peer pressure can work both ways!

WE HAVE A WINNER! Stephanie Buzzo won $25,000, paid for by Odds on Promotions, during halftime at a Varsity Basketball game between Rockford Lutheran and Rockford Christian schools Friday night. Rockford Lutheran School offered a chance to win the $25,000 Prize in a daily contest. There was a new winner every day for the past three months. Participants paid $30 for the chance to win and could win more than once. After each draw in the raffle, the winner was recorded and remained eligible for all subsequent draws. Daily cash prizes ranged from $30 - $1,000. After the final daily draw, one last ticket was drawn for a 1 in 50 chance at winning $25,000. That lucky ticket belonged to Stephanie Buzzo of Davis Junction. Buzzo randomly selected 1 of 50 sealed envelopes before a crowd of about 2,000 people. Using scissors, she opened the envelope to reveal a folded coupon on which was written "Congratulations you have won $25,000." The crowd went wild and Stephanie ran to hug her husband. Visibly shaken and absolutely thrilled to have won she said, "I can't believe it!" When asked what she would do with the money, several things were mentioned, but nothing was definite. She'll have about 4-6 weeks to think about it while she waits for Odds on Promotions to send her a check. According to Mary Kampmeier, Vice President of Rockford Lutheran's Booster Club, "The Crusader Cash Calendar Raffle was new to Rockford Lutheran this year. Having Mrs. Buzzo be blessed with the big prize made the raffle a true success! We are thrilled for her! We will definitely do this fundraiser again next school year. Look for the 2013 Crusader Cash Calendar Raffle tickets to go on sale sometime this summer."
Thank you, Thank you!
